A must-see in Pollensa, the Calvari Steps is an ancient stone staircase leading from the central square up to a tiny church, called the Calvario Chapel. There are 365 steps in the staircase, which leads up to a lovely viewpoint.
The walk can be challenging but there are a few places to stop along the way and admire the view, including a couple of shops. The staircase is lined with cypress trees and the views from the top of the steps are simply amazing.
Once you have made your way back own the Calvari Steps you will find yourself back in Pollensa's main square, where there are plenty of cafes and bars to get some refreshments.
At Easter there is a dramatic religious procession that takes place around the Calvari Steps. This is a solemn occasion, including a re-enactment of the crucifixion followed by the figure of Christ being carried down the staircase. This procession attracts a large crowd of spectators each year.
