Almudaina Palace is located in Palma de Mallorca, and has many interesting historic features as well as a museum.

Located at the entrance to the city, this ancient palace was built in the 10th Century on a site which pre-dates the city of Palma itself. As early as the 2nd Century, the area was used by the Romans as the base for a new city, Palmeria, which became Palma.

The building itself has a dramatic history, having been burnt down in 1115, then reconstructed and altered many times over the centuries since then. Another fire in the 16th Century brought yet more changes to the palace - it has taken on many forms, in many styles, with contributions by various Monarchs. As such, the building has many different architectural features reflecting different periods in history.

The palace has several towers including the 'Torre del Angel' (Angel Tower), which was once almost as high as the cathedral, however was lowered to its current height due to weather damage.

The Mallorca Almudaina Palace is the official residence of the King and Queen of Spain, although when they visit the island

The palace is also the headquarters for the military command of the Balearics.
